November 2017 Meeting Recap

Submitted by Teresa A., Secretary

The Bloomington-Normal Modern Quilt Guilt met on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church. Thirty-five (35) members were in attendance, and we welcomed one new member, Rachel D. and three (3) guests. Our social refreshments were provided by Viv B. and Heather B. who served deviled eggs, crackers, carrot chips, dip, and a variety of delicious cookies.  President Kathy C. thanked the members who provided this month’s treats. Guests were also introduced.

Remember that the guild now has ten (10) books which can be checked out by members. A $5 deposit is required, and it will be refunded if the book is brought back the following meeting. If not returned the month after borrowing, the deposit will be retained in the library account. See Carol B., is the guild librarian if you would like to check out a book.

Mark your calendars, Viv B. shared there will be a bus trip to the International Quilt Festival on April 12, 2018.  There will be more information about the trip at our January meeting.

Goals–Did you complete all the goals for 2015 that you wrote last January? No? Me neither, but it did provide some focus for the projects I did complete.  We’ll be writing new goals for 2016 so give it some thought.

Blog–We now have a BNMQG blog and we’ll take a few minutes to get everybody signed up.

Show and Tell–bring your modern creations so we can ooh and ahh!

Program–Cheryl Adam is a wonderful designer and quilt maker. Here is some info about the program in her own words. “I have been asked to speak about designing. I will attempt to tell you what I do to design a quilt for different work situations and for my own work. I will tell you a little of my thought process, the tools I use, and maybe even admitting some mistakes. I will talk a little about how I decide which fabrics to use and why I choose these. Please come with questions-even about something you are working on.”

2015 Recap

Hello Modern Quilters,

It’s impressive to look back at the year and see all we accomplished  and the fun we had! Here are some highlights.

Our Guild was invited to participate in 2015’s Quilt Spectrum, the Hands All Around Quilt Guild’s annual show.  We did a Bed Turning and were able to showcase our members’ beautiful modern quilts.  We also had an information booth and got to talk modern quilting with lots of interested people.
