I’ve been waiting all year for this month’s meeting! Come to Kelly’s Bakery at 6pm on Tuesday June 26for a celebration of our first exhibit! We’ll view our beautiful minis and have treats from Kelly’s. There will be a short meeting but no program.
Everyone who has a quilt hanging will be entered into the drawing for the Culcita Box which has 12 Tula Pink fat quarters!
We’ll have a special fabric raffle with 6 half yards of Cotton and Steel and solid fabric! That’s 3 yards of fabric, quilters!
Registration for the July workshop with Lynn Carson Harris will continue this month.
Nancy Powell will be presenting the next set of directions for the BNMQG Mystery Quilt that she has designed. There’s plenty of time to join in!
Get those creative juices flowing! March means Heartbeat Quilt design night. Members have been working at sew days to make blocks and on Tuesday we will be designing quilts with them. It’s a fun night to practice your modern design skills and to have fun with your quilting friends!
We’ll also continue our discussion about the modern mini challenge. This month the topic is quilting tips. If you haven’t had a chance you can still sign up!
Member signup for the fall retreat begins this month. There are 25 spots available. Details at the meeting or on the blog in the recap.
Also, don’t forget to sign up for the April 21 workshop!
Tuesday, March 27
Meet us at Christ Lutheran Church, 311 N Hershey, Normal IL.
Social time starts at 5:30 and the meeting will begin at 6.
Hello Modern Quilters! There was a lot to catch up on at the July meeting. First of all, Kathy thanked our refreshment providers, Celese and Marge. Lori LeVar announced that the De-Stash Sale held in May raised $788! The committee not only sold items at our guild meeting, but at two other locations to maximize sales! Committee members were Sue Kaiser, Kris Zimmerman, Viv Browning and Ann Unes.
Ann G reported that we had thirty five members present, one new member, Judy, one guest, Hope, and six guests from Champaign. She reminded everyone that dues for the next year can be paid in August or September. Members not paid by October 1st will be removed from the mailing list.
The terrible storms that struck Ottawa and other areas of Central Illinois were on our minds during our meeting, especially because member and speaker Vickie Alsene’s home is in Ottawa. Our thoughts continue to be with those affected by the tornadoes.
On a more positive note, there was plenty of Modern Quilting action going on! Ann G announced that 33 members and one guest were at the meeting. Before the meeting began, the slide show had pictures of all of the charity quilts submitted by MQG member guilds that were on display at QuiltCon 2017. Having only returned the day before, President Kathy Cook was excited to share those quilts. Our quilt will be returned to us and later we will decide as a guild which charity will get our quilt. Watch for more info about that.
Did you remember our meeting is early this month? It’s next Tuesday the 18th. Come for refreshments and to socialize at 5:30. The meeting will start at 6. Here’s what you need to know. Continue reading →
