2015 Recap

Hello Modern Quilters,

It’s impressive to look back at the year and see all we accomplished  and the fun we had! Here are some highlights.

Our Guild was invited to participate in 2015’s Quilt Spectrum, the Hands All Around Quilt Guild’s annual show.  We did a Bed Turning and were able to showcase our members’ beautiful modern quilts.  We also had an information booth and got to talk modern quilting with lots of interested people.

In April we began a monthly Block Lotto program. The directions and photos are archived in Block Lotto in the menu above. Be sure to look over all the gorgeous work our members did.

The Modern Mystery Quilt that Betty organized  was very popular! At design night we were able to see everyone’s fabric choices and discuss possible layouts with fellow quilters.

The opening night of “Illinois Quiltscape” showcasing modern quilting at McLean County Art Center, was on June 20. Several members of our guild had their quilts displayed.

In the fall generous members contributed some beautiful handmade items to Christ Lutheran Church’s fall bazaar. The church kindly allows us to meet there for our guild meetings and it’s nice to be able to give back.

All year we enjoyed programs with an emphasis on education:

Using die cut machines
Inset circles
What is improv?
Successful quilt sandwiches
Tech tips

We celebrated our 3rd birthday and voted to join the National Modern Quilt Guild.
