Hello Modern Quilters,
Lynn Carson Harris is our speaker this month—free to members and $10 for nonmembers.
Her workshop on small piecing is the next day and we have one spot left.
Please don’t forget that our meeting will be Friday instead of Tuesday next week!
Nancy Powell will be presenting the last set of directions for the BNMQG Mystery Quilt.
Come hear all about the Charity Quilt we’ll be making for Quilt Con!
In August we will begin membership renewal. Dues will increase from $30 to $35 for the year.
Please bring your own drink to bnmqg events. We’re trying to cut down on one-use plastic consumption—thanks for your help!

I’ve been waiting all year for this month’s meeting! Come to Kelly’s Bakery at 6pm on Tuesday June 26 for a celebration of our first exhibit! We’ll view our beautiful minis and
have treats from Kelly’s. There will be a short meeting but no program.
Everyone who has a quilt hanging will be entered into the drawing for the Culcita Box which has 12 Tula Pink fat quarters!
We’ll have a special fabric raffle with 6 half yards of Cotton and Steel and solid fabric! That’s 3 yards of fabric, quilters!
Registration for the July workshop with Lynn Carson Harris will continue this month.
Nancy Powell will be presenting the next set of directions for the BNMQG Mystery Quilt that she has designed. There’s plenty of time to join in!

MODERN QUILTERS
WHAT DO YOU COLLECT ? WHAT DO YOU CREATE ?
Enter your collections, creative crafts & textile creations in the 2018 Heart of Illinois Fair in Peoria. Exhibits are in an air-conditioned, secure building.
Fair dates are Tuesday July 17th – Saturday July 21st.
Go to www.heartofillinoisfair.com The Home Page will appear. On the left side click on FAIR BOOK RULES & ENTRY. Scroll down the list—TEXTILES is Department 12 & Hobbies is Department 16. You pay one exhibitor’s fee and can enter as many items as you like in Hobbies & Textiles, as well as all other Departments at the Fair.
In addition to the premiums paid for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, Textiles and Hobbies have extra prizes and awards. PEDDLER’S WAY QUILT COMPANY in Washington donates 9 gift cards in various amounts to winners in QUILTS and MACHINE EMBROIDERY. Other prizes are listed on the website.
I am the Superintendent of Textiles & Hobbies. I will be at the June 27th Modern Guild meeting. You can bring me your entries and I will bring them to my pet-free & smoke-free home and deliver them to the fair building on Sunday July 15. I can pick them up for you on Sunday July 22nd and return them to you at our Friday July 27th meeting. Or you can deliver them yourself during the times listed in the RULES section on the website.
Any resident of the state of Illinois is eligible to enter. If you have any questions, please call or email me, Viv B. – contact info on the Members list.
Our guild is full of amazing talent. This is a wonderful opportunity for many of you since McLean County only has a 4H Fair. Our premiums in Textiles are one of the highest in Illinois. $25 for 1st place, $15 for 2nd, $10 for 3rd. In addition to the other awards. The Quilts section also has a Viewer’s Choice award.

How’s this for good timing… we can finish our mini quilts for BNMQG and submit them for the #ModernMiniQuiltChallenge since
they fit the criteria for it too.
Submit your entry by emailing a high-resolution image of your quilt to qechallenge@gmail.com by 5 p.m. CST on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 – Full details available here: Join the 2018 Quilt Expo Modern Mini Challenge
This is extra incentive to finish your quilt – their deadline is the same as ours – Tuesday, May 22nd (even though their stuff says Tuesday the 23rd – Tuesday is the 22nd).
It would be awesome to see some of our quilts there. Hope we have lots of entries in both!
