The Bloomington-Normal Modern Quilt Guilt met Friday, July 27, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church. We had forty-one (41) members in attendance and nine (9) guests. Thanks to Sue K., Lynn H. and some of the board members who provided our refreshments for the evening. During our social time there was a slideshow of the Modern Quilt Guild’s Charity quilts from last year.
Announcements:
President Kathy C. welcomed everyone to our July meeting. She introduced our guest speaker for the evening, Lynn Carson Harris from the Ann Arbor Modern Quilt Guild. Lynn is also doing a workshop on Saturday, July 28th.
If you are planning to attend QuiltCon but not registering for any lectures or workshops please at least register for the 4-day show pass – it’s free if you register before November.

The mini quilts from our Kona Color of the Year Mini Quilt Challenge were displayed at the meeting and returned to their owners. If you were unable to attend the meeting and had a mini quilt that was displayed at Kelly’s Bakery for the month of June, please contact Kathy C. to make arrangements to getting it returned.

Nancy P. has designed a quilt for our guild to make for the QuiltCon 2019 Member Charity Challenge. More information and details will be coming within the next few months. We will be looking for members to help out in making this quilt for charity.
Nancy P. shared the 4th and final clue in our Mystery Quilt. It’s still not too late to get started on your Mystery Quilt. This information is available in our Members section on the blog. Be sure to bring your mystery quilt blocks to the August meeting.
We had some award winning quilts shared during our Show and Tell time! Be sure and check out the beautiful quilts!
Our Survey Question was “What’s the smallest piece you’ve ever pieced?”
The results were:
½” – 4
¾” – 7
1” – 14
2 ½” – 1
3” – 1
President Kathy suggested based on our results, it might be good Lynn Carson Harris was here to do a workshop on “Tiny Piecing.”
Our Fabric Raffle winner was Marilyn B. and our Survey Door Prize winner was Julie D.
Congratulations Marilyn and Julie!
The program for tonight was a trunk show by Lynn Carson Harris. She shared many of her beautiful quilts and the stories and meaning behind them. Lynn’s message was to always have fun and play!
At our August meeting we will be designing the Mystery Quilts. Also, if you have won a Block Lotto but haven’t finished your quilt, bring your blocks and there will be lots of help for you with the designing.
