The Bloomington-Normal Modern Quilt Guilt met on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Kelly’s Bakery in downtown Bloomington. Forty-two (42) members were in attendance and we welcomed two (2) new members this month. Welcome to Connie C. and Linda Bradbury.
We were treated to some of Kelly’s Bakery’s delicious goodies for our meeting tonight, provided by the guild.
Announcements:
President Kathy C. welcomed everyone to Kelly’s Bakery for our June meeting.
She shared how she has heard from so many people about our wonderful display of Mini Quilts. Everyone who had a Mini Quilt on display was entered into a special drawing.
Cathie H. won the Tula Pink fat quarter stack. Congratulations Cathie!
President Kathy C. did a quick survey of those in attendance and if they were planning to go to QuiltCon 2019 in Nashville. Based on the response it appears the BNMQG will be well represented. If you are planning to attend QuiltCon but not registering for any lectures or workshops please at least register for the 4-day show pass – it’s free!
Sign up for the workshop featuring Lynn Carson Harris on Friday, July 28th is now open to non-BNMQG members. If you are still interested in signing up please contact Donna L. to see if there are any openings available.
Also, please note the date change for the July meeting – Friday, July 27th at Christ Lutheran Church with Lynn Carson Harris’ lecture as our program for the evening. Lynn’s workshop will be on Saturday, July 28th at the church. Please contact Donna L if you’re interested to find out if there are still openings available.
Viv B. is collecting quilts for those interested in entering them in the Heart of Illinois Fair Quilt Show. There is still time if you are interested please please contact Viv B.
President Kathy thanked the nominating committee, (Julie D., Carol Lou E. and Paula M.) for providing a slate of officers for next year. The officers who will be voted on in August are:
Co-Presidents: Stormy H. and Kathy M.
Vice-President: Cathie H.
Treasurer: Nancy P.
Secretary: Teresa A.
In addition to these people, Nancy H. and Kathy M. are going to co-chair Heartbeat quilts.
Nancy P. shared the 3rd clue in our Mystery Quilt. It’s not too late to get started of the Mystery Quilt. This information is available in our Members section on the blog.
Fabric Raffle drawing. The lucky winner tonight was one of Beth F.
Since our June meeting was a little different than usual, we didn’t have a Block Lotto or Survey Door Prize.
In August our meeting will be on designing the Mystery Quilts. Also, if you have won a Block Lotto but haven’t finished your quilt, bring your blocks and there will be lots of help for you with the designing.
Things to remember
– Guild Library. Check out of one of the guild’s books. See Carol B., who is the guild librarian if you would like to check out a book.
Our next meeting will be July 27th at the church.
