June 2019 Meeting Reminder

Hello Modern Quilters

Our next meeting will be at the church on Tuesday, June 25^th. It will be a Salad/Dessert Potluck.

***IF your last name begins with A – H bring a salad, I – Z bring a dessert. ***

We will also be making postcards to exchange with the Boulder Colorado Modern Quilt Guild. If you would like to participate, please bring a pieced postcard sized quilt (4” x 6”). We will be building the rest of the postcard during the meeting. We will need several sewing machines that can zigzag for the final steps. IF you would like to volunteer to bring a machine, please let Kathy M. know. The guild will be providing the finishing materials.

If you wish to participate, please bring a completed 4×6 inch mini quilt top. The following tutorial was created by the Colorado guild for their members:

You only need to complete steps 1 and then cut a lightweight fusible interfacing and fuse to back of the mini quilt top.

Skip to step #4 and quilt it using any type of modern quilting style.

The remainder of the steps will be completed at our June 25th meeting, with the guild providing the card stock and fusible web.

I can’t wait to see all the different Post Cards!

Social time will be at 5:30 PM, dinner at 6:00 PM, with the postcard exchange after dinner.

BUS TRIP TO MADISON QUILT EXPO. Date: Thursday Sept. 5, 2019 – cost $50 which includes your ticket into the show.

Pick up locations are East Peoria Kohl’s Parking Lot at 6:15 am and El Paso at approximately 7 am. Should be back in El Paso approximately 8 pm and in East Peoria at 8:45 pm.

HEART OF ILLINOIS FAIR in Peoria. Last year a BNMQG member entered 2 quilts and received 2 ribbons and some cash.

Think about entering the fair this summer. Fair dates are July 16-21. Entry deadline the first week of July. Many other
