Forty four members attended the annual BNMQG potluck on August 27, 2024. President Vivian welcomed everyone. She then introduced and thanked Teresa A. for putting it all together. Teresa then explained the formation of the food line. There will be a table set up for members to vote on the nominated officers prior to entering the food line.



After enjoying a great variety of food, 13 members then signed on via zoom and Vivian opened the business meeting.






Outgoing President, Vivian, thanked her outgoing board members and committee chairmen and presented each with a gift.







Vice President Linda L., presented Vivian with a beautiful gift as appreciation for her service as president. In keeping with Vivian’s love of space and astrology, it was a picture of her and astronaut Karen Nyburg with a quilted frame.






Ten year pins were then presented to those who have been members of BNMQG for 10 consecutive years. They were:

As Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Stormy H., announced the ballots had been counted and the elected officers are as follows:

President-Elect Kelly then thanked everyone for her support and introduced her committee chairs for the coming year

It was then announced that several of our members received ribbons for their quilt entries at the Heart of Illinois Fair including Karen G. named Grand Champion. Others receiving ribbons were Leslie S., Nancy P., Donna P., DeeLynn B. and Sue W.


Incoming Program Chairman, Leslie, briefly discussed the upcoming programs. She began by announcing there are still two openings for the Allie McCatheran Seaglass Workshop on September 7th.
Other programs for the year include:
- September: Jamie Willis “Principals of Designs”
- October: Demo stations with several members participating
- November Due to Thanksgiving this meeting will be held in
- December Program on the 3rd will be an in person lecture by M.J. Kinnman. This will be followed by an In person workshop on December 4th.
- January Karen Bolen “How to Design a Mini Quilt” -This will be a zoom presentation.

Pat S., current outreach chairman, announced we have had to cancel our participation in the ISU Horticulture Festival as we have been unable to secure enough workers.
Vivian announced that the Treasurer’s report will be posted on the website in the secure member’s page.

Laurie S. reminded members that the “BNMQG Gear” will be available again this year. Members will receive an email on September 16 outlining the details and an order form. Delivery will be at the October 22nd meeting or you can choose to pay shipping and have items shipped to you.
Laurie thanked the advertisers who have purchased ads for their quilting services this past year. Contact information can be found here.
Those who were not able to register for quilt con due to the “crash” will be able to sign in on August 28, 2024. The site will reopen at 9:00 a.m.

Sheila R. who has been providing insight into the MQG block studies program presented her block called “Harlequin” and told members how to access the Modern Quilt Guild site, going to resources after logging in.
Jamie W. who will be presenting a program on Principals of Design in September spoke briefly about her upcoming program. There will be a list of supplies which will be listed prior to the meeting.
The following members showed quilts and other items they had made at the show and tell portion of the meeting. Those who brought project were: Leslie S., Donna P., Kelly C., Teresa A., Kathy C., Sheila R. and Maria C.
