President Lisa B. called the meeting to order and welcomed those present.   This was a zoom meeting with 67 members and 3 guests present.

Lisa then introduced the evenings program “The Power of Color Composition” presented by Caroline Oneto.  She presented a very informative program using primary, secondary, and tertiary colors in quilting.  Her explanations and examples were very helpful in the understanding of color theory. She will be hosting a workshop on January 28 for members who have signed up.

Following the program, the business  meeting resumed.

Noemi reported that we currently have 114 members.

Noemi reported that the Shop Hop committee will be meeting on Friday to work on plans for the shop hop to be held later in the year.

Barb S reported that she and Marge E. are working on the guild Mission Statement and will have it completed shortly.

The Kona Mini Challenge guidelines were reviewed   The quilt must be 20 x 20 and use the Kona Color of the year, Crush, somewhere in the quilt.  Detailed requirements are linked on the Member’s page. There will be a $2.00 fee to enter the challenge.  This will also cover the cost of the label which must be attached to the quilt.   Nancy will have the labels and collect the fees at the March meeting.  Those wishing to participate in the challenge can sign up on Sign Up Genius at this link – it is also posted on the Member’s page

This has been a very fun annual challenge. It is so fun to see the creativity of our members! Please bring completed quilts to our March meeting. You can also choose to show your Quilt at many upcoming events!

The Destash sale will be held at our regular meeting in April.  Those desiring to donate items, should have them priced prior to bringing them to the meeting.   Items should be marked in whole dollar amounts.   All quilting items can be sold except magazines. Nancy reported on the Decatur Art Show to be held in August.   Members  wanting to submit their quilt for review should post a picture on Shutterfly by the February meeting – if after the February meeting, please email images to Nancy.    If the quilt is accepted, members will be notified.  Nancy will pick up those quilts at the July meeting and see that they are delivered to Decatur in time for the show. There will be a reception on opening night, August 4th, that all members are invited to – more details will follow.

Nancy reminded members that pictures of their Modern Mystery Quilt should be posted on Shutterfly by February 15.    Do not put your name on the picture.    Member names, quilt name, and size of the quilt should be posted in the comment section only.
