The holiday meeting of BNMQG was conducted via Zoom on December 30, 2021 was opened by president Lisa B.
We had several rounds of our potholder swap during the meeting. Lots of creativity from all of the members who participated – just a few are shown here.
Our Kona mini quilts that were part of the Modern Showcase will be in a traveling exhibit with the Original Sewing and Quilting Expo! Our quilts will be starting in Akron, OH, and travel with the Original Sewing and Quilting Expo for the rest of the year. Thank you to all who have agreed to have their quilt travel with the show. Please make sure to get your quilt to Kathy C. by the deadline of January 25th – see her email for more details, but you can mail it to her, drop it off at her house or meet her at Panera North on some specific days and times.
We will be able to add to the exhibit with our 2022 Kona Challenge Minis after the April meeting.
Our mini quilts will be 20” squares using the Kona color somewhere on the front. There will be a $2 entry fee and then you will be provided with a label to use. All quilts should be finished with a facing or binding for the April meeting. The quilting should also be modern and enhance the quilt.
There is a sign up for the 2022 Kona Challenge Quilts on Sign Up Genius. Come join the fun – they are a great opportunity to try out a new to you technique!
Tickets for the Yazzii bag raffle are still available: 1 ticket for $3 or 6 tickets for $15. The PayPal buttons are posted on the Member’s only page, since the raffle is limited to just BNMQG members. Winners will be drawn in February. We don’t need to be present to win.
Modern Mystery – the 1st drawing was conducted tonight and Vickie A. was the winner of Maria Shell’s book Improv Patchwork. The 1st clue of the Modern Mystery was given out on the 3rd of January. There were 2 Zoom meetings held at 11 or 7, the recording has been posted to the BNMQG Modern Mystery Facebook Page and on the Shutterfly share site.
This is such a fun way to expand our skills and we have Nancy P. holding our hands and leading the way through the whole way! She is such a fun and enthusiastic teacher. Many have already completed the 1st months’ challenge and posted their pic to the Shutterfly Share Site. Deadline to be entered into the Month 1 drawing is midnight on January 24th. If you haven’t joined the Modern Mystery, it’s not too late – you can join at any time. You may just miss out on a prize drawing or two, depending on when you join us. About 2/3’s of the guild is already signed up!
We would like to know who will be going to Quilt Con in Phoenix in February. Please use this Signup Genius to let us know so that we might arrange a get together or a group picture.
