Hello Modern Quilters!
We had a great turnout at our October meeting! Lots of people helped to make it a really fun evening. Here’s the recap!
A great big thanks to……. Carol Lou and Celeste for providing the treats; VP Donna and all the members who worked on our beautful MQG Charity Quilt; and Peace and Applique for vending–they brought a lot of quilty goodness!
Future vendors will be Boline’s Fabric Warehouse in March and Patty Young in July.
Treasurer Ann G reported that we had 37 members in attendance and 3 visitors. She also gave a Public Service Announcement about cleaning your machine regularly, confiding that she found enough for a mouse sweater when she finally cleaned hers at the retreat. Members were all given pipe cleaners to take home so they could clean theirs.
The nominating committee for this year is Beth Findley, Marilyn Beal and Kris Zimmerman,
Our program was given by Gretchen Quistgaard, the owner of Peace and Applique Too in Bloomington. Gretchen’s Lecture was on Low Volume Fabric for the Modern Quilter. She covered several definitions, the history of low volume, and accompanied the lecture with many examples. We learned how to view fabric on our smart phones in monotone. Members learned a lot!
And the winners were……Door Prize, Deb F….Block Lotto, brand new member Deanna and Marilyn B……raffle fabric, Pat M.
This month’s Block Lotto block is called Intersection and entries are unlimited. Get directions here.
Donna L gave directions for the Pillow Cover Swap part 2. She explained how to put the cover together and gave lots of beautiful examples of how to straight line quilt them. Watch for a separate email with her instructions.
Show and Tell was spectacular as usual!
Wish I could have been there! Looks like it was a fun meeting.
