Hello Modern Quilters,

We had a great turn out for our April meeting! A lot of opportunities were shared and a lot of beautiful quilts too.  Here’s everything you need to know.

Members were treated to a beautiful display of baby quilts when they walked into the meeting last night.  Our service project is really taking off and we will be able to make our first delivery to Bro Menn’s NICU soon! Thanks so much for all your hard work!!

There were several announcements shared by members about modern quilting opportunities.

The Frond Fabric Challenge deadline is June 1.

HAAQG has invited us on a field trip to Missouri Star Quilt Co on June 3 and 4.  Details at our next meeting.

Bill Kerr will be speaking and giving workshops for the Gems in Peoria on August 4, 5 and 6. More info later.

On September 30, October 1 and 2 BNMQG will hold our first retreat at Threads and Beds retreat center in Danville, IL.  The cost is $45 a night. If you stay 2 nights the third is free!

Donna L is organizing our MQG QuiltCon Charity quilt. Penny W, Vickie A, Marilyn B, Kathy C, Sue K, and Ann U volunteered to be on the steering committee.  This quilt will be a collaborative effort and there will be an opportunity for all members to contribute after decisions about palette and design have been made by the committee.

This month’s program was given by our president Connie B. Connie shared pics from her Paducah trip and led a discussion on what makes a quilt modern.

Pam L was the lucky winner of the Patty Young raffle fabric!

Ann G shared the second set of directions for our Mystery Quilt.  You’ll find them in the Members  section. The directions are laid out beautifully. Start cutting!

Next month’s Block Lotto is called Striped Corner. It’s a great block for scraps! There will be so many great quilt design options with this block.  Can’t wait to see them all!
