BNMQG met September 26, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church. Prior to the meeting, a social time was enjoyed with delicious treats provided by Leslie S., Donna P., Sandy F., and Cheryl A.
President Vivian H. asked Lisa B. to introduce Aimee Beam of the Midwest Food Bank for a special presentation. Aimee gave a brief explanation of the history and scope of the Midwest Food Bank. She noted that 99.4% of the donated money goes to provide food for those in need. It is through the generosity of volunteers that come forward and assist with so many aspects of the association.
For the past several months, members of the Guild have been selling raffle tickets for a quilt designed and sewn by members of the Guild. Lisa B. then presented the Midwest Food Bank a check in the amount of $3175.00 which represents the sale of raffle tickets. Incidentally, at the drawing last moth, one of our members, Donna Phillips, was the winner of the quilt.

BNMQG met August 22, 2023 with 62 members and 2 guests present in person. There were 25 members in attendance by zoom. Because it was our 11th anniversary meeting, Ray Silva took a picture of those in attendance. It was so fun last year to take a group picture that we want to make it a tradition!
President Lisa B. welcomed everyone and thanked the hospitality servers for the treats prior to the meeting. They were Connie C., Nancy D., and Mary W.
The speaker for the evening was Linda Lambert who presented a most enjoyable and informative program “Collage Quilting on Your Brain”.
Linda is a certified instructor in the Laura Heine method of collage. Several samples of collage were shown. Linda will be teaching a collage class on September 9, 2023. The pattern is “The Dress” from the Group #1 – Dress-Fish-Elephant pattern. Members were given the opportunity to sign up for the class and purchase kits, patterns or supplies for the workshop.
A few spots are still available, but the PayPal link on the Meetings and Events page is broken currently – Lisa’s fault. Until it can get fixed, please send an email to BNMQGprograms at gmail.com if you want to sign up for the workshop.

The Bloomington Normal Modern Quilt Guild met on June 27, 2023. As in past years, this meeting was a social meeting with a potluck dinner and a short business meeting. President Lisa B. welcomed everyone. Members then enjoyed a delicious potluck dinner and it’s safe to say no one went away hungry.
Following dinner, the members were each told to write down something about themselves that most did not know about them. It did not have to be quilting related. Each individual table would then look at the results and choose one to be presented to the group. Lisa read each selection and the group tried to guess which member it represented. Everyone enjoyed trying to figure out the clue.
Our June meeting will be a social night with games and a potluck. Bring an item to share – it does not have to be enough to share with everyone. A suggestion of what to bring based on your last name is below, but it is a suggestion so that we get a wide variety of items. Plates, napkins and utensils will be provided. This meeting may be best attended in person. We will have Zoom running, but you don’t want to miss the tasty treats!
