September Meeting Recap

Submitted by Carol B., Secretary

The Bloomington Normal Modern Quilt Guild met in person and via zoom on September 24, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, Bloomington.

Vice President Marie C. called the meeting to order and introduced Leslie S. who introduced our speaker, Jamie Willis whose topic for the evening was “Elements and Principles of Design in Modern Quilting”. Jamie talked about her career in art education and how she used that experience to guide her design of quilts. She discussed and displayed examples of the following principles of design: balance, emphasis, movement, pattern, repetition, proportion, rhythm, variety and unity. After her talk, Jamie provided note cards, heavy colored paper, and the members were to bring glue sticks and colored pencils to glue together their own mini art creation using some of the principles of design.

At the conclusion of the program, members enjoyed snacks provided by Leslie S., Donna P., and Sandy V. and responding to the survey question and  Raffle tickets were also collected. Lisa B won the fabric raffle.
