Submitted by Carol B., Secretary

The meeting was called to order at 6:02 pm in person and on Zoom.

Kelly C. called the meeting to order and reminded the members that our speaker for the evening will also be leading an in-person workshop the next day. Kelly reported that the word of the month is “encouraging.” She then asked Leslie S. to introduce our speaker.

Leslie S. introduced our speaker Dana Jones who teaches in a variety of locations about taking traditional blocks and making them modern. She showed many quilts that were redesigned from traditional to more modern, discussing her process.

The talk was followed by a 15 minute break when members could pick up a snack provided by Sheila R., Cathy C., Stormy H., and Julie D. There was also a board where they could vote on something of interest.

After the break the officer and committee reports began.

Cathy C., announced that she is an ambassador for the Modern Quilt Guild and they are soliciting donations of quilts to the National for Auction. You must be a member to submit, but anyone can purchase the quilts. The sales open on August 20 and close on September 10. The quilts need to be at least 12” x 12” with a maximum of 96”. Bidding will take place October 1 – 15. Any quilts that aren’t sold will be returned to the donor.

Vickie A. showed some samples of dyed fabric and reminded members of the BNMQG workshops at her home.

Sheila had members of the Monthly Mystery share what they made and talked about how participants and she learned so much during the process.  Marilyn M. won the prize for her quilt.

A drawing will be held in July. So far $740 worth of tickets had been sold. Please sign up and bring fabric, kits, and tools for the Stash Sale. There is a sign-up space on the web site.
